Sending a Mail/Care Package

The Lane County Juvenile Detention Center inmates are allowed to get written letters in the mail from their family and friends. For safety reasons all incoming mail gets examined before it gets handed out to the correct inmates.

Sending Money

In order for inmates at the Lane County Juvenile Detention Center to make purchases, they will need their account funded. There are several different ways you can fund an inmate's account if you would like to do so. 

First, a money order can be sent to the address listed below. Make sure you make all money orders payable to the inmate's name.

Money orders are the only thing that can be sent in the mail to fund an inmate's account.

At Lane County Jail lobby there is a kiosk that you can use to deposit funds into an inmate's account. The kiosk accepts cash, credit and debit cards. 1$ bill are not accepted at the kiosk and the kiosk does not make change either.  

Funds can be deposited by logging onto www.smartdeposit.com. The inmate’s SO number will be needed to use this service. This service also has a charge that starts at $2.95.

By calling 541-682-4700 you will be able to deposit funds as well. The inmate’s SO number will be needed for this service as well. This service also has a charge that starts at $4.  Keep in mind there is a fee that starts at $4.

There are a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $200 per transaction per week with all the services listed above.

Phone calls

The Lane County Juvenile Detention Center inmates are not allowed to get phone calls from their family or friends. During phone time inmates are allowed to make phone calls to their family and friends. The inmates are limited to 15-minute phone calls. The call will get terminated as soon as the 15-minutes is over.  

Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are forbidden for the inmates to use. If an inmate is caught using any of these features the call will get disconnected and disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate. 

The Lane County Juvenile Detention Center inmates are allowed to only make collect phone calls. You will only be able to receive a collect call from an inmate from a landline phone. However, you will not be able to receive any collect calls from a mobile phone. The individual receiving the collect call is the one responsible for and all fees associated with the collect calls. The Lane County Juvenile Detention Center is not accountable for any and all charges associated with the collect calls.

The inmates do not have a way to keep in touch with friends and family using any electronic messaging systems.  You will need to send them a written letter to the address listed above if you would like to keep in touch with an inmate in the Lane County Juvenile Detention Center

Visiting Rules

The Lane County Juvenile Detention Center inmates are allowed to have visitations. All visitations are video visitations. You will only be able to see the inmate on a screen. 

Inmates in the housing area are provided with the proper resources to have a video visitation with their friends and family.

You will be required to show either your driver’s license, state identification card, or your United States Passport before you are allowed to visit.
