The Niagara County Jail is located in Lockport, New York. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Department manages and operates the Niagara County Jail

Sending a Mail/Care Package

The Niagara County Jail are allowed to get written letters from their family and friends. For safety reasons all letters get inspected by jail employees when they arrive.  The jail staff pass out the letters to the correct inmates after the mail gets inspected. 

When you send items to the jail along with your letters, there are you are not allowed to send. Here is a list of items that are not allowed:

The Niagara County Jail inmates are allowed to receive books and newspapers magazines. The books, magazines, and newspapers will need to be sent directly from the bookstore or publisher to the jail. All books being sent to the jail will have to be new and paperback. All used and hardcover books are not allowed. Books will be sent back to sender if they are used or hardcover. 

Sending Money

The Niagara County Jail inmates will need money to buy things from the commissary. You can send a cashier’s check or a money order to directly to the Niagara County Jail, if you would like to fund an inmate's account. Make sure to make the money payable to the inmate. 

The money orders or cashier’s checks can be dropped off at the Niagara County Jail or you can mail them to the jail at the address listed below:

Make sure to write the return address on the envelope if you choose to mail the money order or checks.  It will take several days for the money orders to be deposited into the inmate’s bank account. 

Phone calls

The Niagara County Jail inmates are not allowed to get phone calls from their family or friends. During phone time, inmates are permitted to call their family and friends.  The inmates are only allowed to have 15-minute phone calls. The call will be disconnected when the 15-minutes is up.     

Calling features such as three-way calling and call forwarding are prohibited for the inmates to use. The call will be disconnected if an inmate is caught using any of these features. Disciplinary action will be taken up against the inmate. 

The Niagara County Jail inmates are allowed to make collect calls only. Only individuals who have a landline phone can receive collect calls. Those who only have a cell phone will not be able to get any collect calls. The individual receiving the collect call is the one responsible for any and all charges that are associated with the collect call. The Niagara County Jail is not responsible for any and all charges associated with the collect calls.

The Niagara County Jail inmates do not have a way to get onto the internet. The inmates can not communicate with friends and family using any electronic messaging systems. You will need to send a written letter to the address above if you would like to stay in touch with an inmate in the Niagara County Jail.

Visiting Rules

The Niagara County Jail inmates can have visitors. All visitors under the age of 18 will are allowed to visit, however, they will need to stay by their legal guardian. Before you are allowed to visit you will need to show either your driver’s license, state identification card, or your United States Passport.

Make sure you put all your personal belongings in your car. You are not allowed to bring any of your personal belongings to the visitation area.

How Often Can I Visit?

The Niagara County Jail inmates are allowed to have 5 visits per calendar week. These visits can include 1 adult visitor and 2 minor visitors and the visit can be up to 15-minutes long.
